Are you feeling rejected?

"Outside the Box" cartoon by nakedpastor David Hayward One of the things I've come to realize is that most often the reason I feel rejected and excluded is because of important choices I've made for myself. Oh, sometimes people can just be jerks and exclude you because they're cliquish or mean or thoughtless. But most of the time it's because of our own choices. If I choose to be me, think my thoughts, and live my life, but not according to the standards they require, desire, or expect, then there are going to be consequences. Why? Because sometimes this makes them" feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it makes them feel superior. Sometimes it makes them feel guilty. Sometimes it makes them feel rejected. Sometimes it makes them feel exclusive. Or, does" it "make" them feel anything at all? Maybe they choose to feel this way. I think so. In any case, they feel" justified in" feeling the desire or the need to not fellowship with or include me anymore. Actually, this is why most people feel rejected by the church. It's because the church doesn't like the way they think, speak, or behave. When people" choose to be spiritually independent, rejection often results. It happened as recently as yesterday. I stood for something I absolutely believe in. It upset some people. So I'm not allowed in their club anymore. That is their issue. Not mine. I never liked boxes anyway.
